Harleston Magpies Under-12 Boys win at In2Hockey Finals in Nottingham




Harleston Magpies have been celebrating the triple success of their Under-12 Boys.

Having already been crowned champions of Norfolk and then the Eastern region, the youngsters followed that up by winning the national title at the In2Hockey Finals in Nottingham on Saturday.

Magpies were drawn against the champions of the Midlands, South East and Yorkshire in their pool, with the winner progressing to the final to meet the strongest teams from either the West, South Central, North West or London.

And Harleston started the tournament in style by scoring with their first chance in the opening fixture against Repton, who they went on to defeat 6-1.

That was followed by further pool victories at the expense of Ben Rhydding (4-1) and Guildford (5-0) to set up a clash in the final against Surbiton.

And Magpies made a dream start to the encounter with two goals inside the opening seven minutes, which proved to be the springboard to a 4-0 victory and the top prize.

A statement from the club read: “An incredible team performance over the day with all players contributing to this remarkable achievement. Congratulations to the squad and of course their coaches.”
